“Closing Your Year Strong – The Member Exit Process” – A New Workshop for AmeriCorps Staff

As the AmeriCorps year begins to wind down, it is time to think about how to facilitate a smooth transition for members.  As they say “It’s not how you start your service year – it’s how you finish it!”  Join us for Closing Your Year Strong – The Member Exit Process.  Participants will dig into everything from member closing checklists to celebrating a successful service term.  This workshop is taking place on Tuesday, June 25th from 12-1:30 pm Eastern (9 am Pacific; 10 am Mountain; 11 am Central).

Workshop Details:
The end of AmeriCorps members’ service term can be both an exciting and challenging time.  Program staff often are juggling sustained member engagement with supporting a compliant exit.  In this workshop, participants will prepare for potential end-of-year member challenges and begin to build their own program staff exit checklist.  Participants will also connect with peers on member recognition strategies and learn how to close out the program cycle, not only with the member cohort, but with external partners and staff.

Key Takeaways:

  • Review the member end-of-year life cycle and how to address challenges that often arise as members reach their final month(s) of service.
  • Build a comprehensive exit process “checklist” covering all the important steps to ensure members exit on time and are recognized for their service commitment.
  • Share member recognition ideas with colleagues.
  • Discuss the importance of effective close-out and reflection with both external partners and internal staff in preparation for a new incoming cohort.
