When a challenge arises between a member and a partner site, it’s rarely black and white. The policies may be clear, but the path forward? Not so much. Should you step in directly—or give space? Do you serve as a neutral third party, a supportive guide, or a policy enforcer? Often, the answer is all of the above.
This is one of the trickiest roles AmeriCorps staff play. And yet, with the right tools and mindset, it’s also one of the most powerful ways to build trust, repair relationships, and support transformational growth—for members and sites alike.
