Padma Lakshmi And Iliza Shlesinger Partner With FoodCorps For National Service Initiative

Congrats to FoodCorps — who we’ve been working with since their inception — on its new partnership with TV host and producer Padma Lakshmi, and comedian Iliza Shlesinger to promote children’s access to healthy meals!

FoodCorps connects kids to healthy food in school so that every child — regardless of race, place, or class — gets the nourishment they need to thrive. The organization’s AmeriCorps leaders transform schools into spaces where students understand healthy eating. Building on this foundation of direct impact, FoodCorps forges networks (through, for example, their Pass The Carrot campaign) and pursues policy reforms that have the potential to improve over 100,000 schools across the country.

“When it comes to ensuring the success and wellbeing of our kids, nothing is more important than providing healthy food access and education,” said Lakshmi. The Top Chef host is calling for a coordinated effort to provide nutrition in schools across the country.

Comedian Iliza Shlesinger is also involved. “We have a responsibility towards one another. Access to nutritious food is something many of us take for granted but not afforded to all,” she said.

We couldn’t be more happy for the FoodCorps team, who never cease to amaze us with how they use data gathered from the AmeriCorps Impact Suite to multiply their impact.
