Scaling workforce development programming in public health is no small feat. For Christine Simon, Director of Workforce Development at the National Nurse-Led Care Consortium (NNCC), the stakes are high and the paperwork even higher.
“We have so many things for members to send us and sign,” Christine explains. “Credentialing, onboarding, compliance checks—it was a lot.”
NNCC supports over 250 nurse-managed health centers across the country, all focused on expanding access to quality care in underserved communities. Managing a workforce within this vast, high-impact ecosystem demands tools that are as mission-driven as the people who use them.
Initially, NNCC turned to the America Learns Impact Suite to manage basic tasks like AmeriCorps progress reports and timesheets. But what started as a compliance solution quickly evolved into a cornerstone for streamlining public health workforce systems.
“The signing documents feature has been a game-changer…. It made everything so much more organized. Everything’s in one place, everything’s safe, and we can host it all on member profiles.”
That safety and simplicity translate into smoother site visits from funders, faster onboarding, and, most importantly, more time for NNCC to do what it does best: advancing nurse-led healthcare and workforce development.
While Christine’s team manages AmeriCorps State and VISTA programs in Pennsylvania, the lessons learned from using this system go far beyond national service. It’s about streamlining compliance and onboarding workflows, improving public health program management, and empowering staff with better tools, just as we’ve facilitated at other public health organizations like Damien Ministries.
“We have loved it,” Christine says, smiling.
And when you’re building systems to serve millions, love matters.
