In this year of big changes for AmeriCorps, we’re especially honored to welcome The Book Works in Louisville, Kentucky to the America Learns community.
The Book Works is launching an AmeriCorps Education Award Only program with eight part-time members serving in Jefferson County. The organization’s AmeriCorps members will be:
Facilitating literacy workshops and assessments that uncover each student’s attitudes toward reading;
Identifying strategies to improve both reading levels and confidence;
Co-leading social-emotional learning sessions; and
Developing and sharing literacy resources with families in community spaces.
To keep their focus on what matters most — the students beginning to see themselves as readers — The Book Works will be using the Impact Suite to streamline AmeriCorps member enrollment, file management, and timesheets. Everything their members and staff need will live in one secure, easy-to-use place.
