Lead by The Servant Center, the AmeriCorps Partnership to End Homelessness was founded in 2008 to aid the agencies in Greensboro, North Carolina as they addressed the homelessness and hunger in Guilford County. The hope was to improve lives through stability: no more housing insecurity, no more food insecurity. Since then, this area has seen economic slump, recovery, pandemic, and is now on the verge of booming. Each season brought its own challenges, and the current season of improving economy and jobs is sucking up every bit of housing; the problem of low stock of affordable housing is worsening.
The agencies in Guilford County banded together to form a Continuum of Care to better collaborate and play to one another’s strengths. It is from this group that the Partnership to End Homelessness has attracted its partners. In an exciting development, the City of Greensboro’s Housing and Neighborhood Development department joined the partnership this year, opening the door to opportunities that the Partnership has never had before.
2024-2025 Service Year
The 2024-2025 service year sees the program with 16 AmeriCorps members, six partners, eight service sites, 10 supervisors and one program staff member. Of the members, two are full time, 13 are part time, and one is reduced half time.
AmeriCorps members provide essential services such as case management, employment and benefit assistance, housing search and placement, food/grocery distribution, and much more. Along with serving clients at their host sites, members participate in a variety of community service projects to benefit the communities they serve. Members also participate in ongoing personal development training on topics such as homelessness issues, race relations, and mental health issues. Members provide more than 24,000 hours of service each year in Guilford and Forsyth Counties.
The Impact Suite
With so much going on and just one (superhero) staff member leading the program, the program has been searching for a far more efficinet process to handle AmeriCorps member enrollment and file management activities. We’re thrilled to help The Partnership take these activities from “ugh” to ease so staff time can shift from admin to impact.
Welcome!
