“Welcome to AmeriCorps” – A New Workshop for AmeriCorps Members

Have you just been inducted into an AmeriCorps program? Welcome aboard! We’re partnering with our friends at Do Good, Be Good to give AmeriCorps members a 101 on everything AmeriCorps in this workshop, Welcome to AmeriCorps. Let’s kick off an amazing year!

This workshop is happening on Wednesday, September 25th, 2024 6:30-8:00 pm ET (3:30pm PT/4:30pm MT/5:30pm CT)

Workshop Details: 
AmeriCorps service is different from anything you have done before. In this workshop you will learn more about the history of AmeriCorps, the expectations of all AmeriCorps members, and a few key tips to ensure that you have a successful term of service. 

About the Facilitator: Betsy Prueter
In addition to being an instructor with Do Good Be Good, Betsy Prueter is the Chief of Staff and Director of Prospective Policymaker Education for the Postsecondary National Policy Institute (PNPI) in Washington, D.C. PNPI provides professional development and continuing education to current and prospective higher education policy professionals. Prior to PNPI, she directed federal grants to facilitate academic service-learning and family-school-community partnerships in low-income schools and managed several AmeriCorps and AmeriCorps*VISTA programs. Throughout her career, Betsy has enjoyed teaching and mentoring college students- including through Massachusetts Campus Compact as an AmeriCorps*VISTA herself.

She has consulted with nonprofits in Washington, D.C., and across the country – with a focus on facilitation, staff development, continuing education, and asset-based community development and organizing. Betsy holds a master’s degree in Education Policy Studies from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and an executive certificate in Facilitation from Georgetown University.

Betsy resides in Atlanta, GA, and is a proud public school parent and advocate.
