So excited to begin serving Goodwill Big Bend’s AmeriCorps program (Goodworks!), a full-time, service-based program that provides opportunities for individuals to serve their community while developing valuable skills and gaining connections that can help them transition to the civilian workforce or to a new career.
AmeriCorps members serving at Goodwill Big Bend work to help economically-disadvantaged individuals and families by removing barriers to employment and helping them obtain meaningful and productive jobs. Members serve in a variety of roles, including:
- Trainer: Provide occupational skills training to participants, teaching them the skills they need to succeed in the workforce.
- Volunteer Developer: Develop and implement volunteer engagement opportunities that support Goodwill’s mission of removing barriers to employment.
- Placement Specialist: Work with participants to identify their career goals and develop a plan to achieve them, including providing job search assistance, resume writing workshops, and interview preparation.
- Resource Connector: Connect participants with the resources they need to achieve their goals, such as childcare assistance, transportation assistance, and housing assistance.
GoodWorks is transitioning to the Impact Suite to streamline key operations, freeing up staff and members to spend more time on the mission and less time on administration. From handling enrollment and member files (including associated Volunteer Florida audits) to ensuring timesheet compliance and tracking impact to tell a powerful story about the program’s work, GoodWorks is joining the community of national service programs across Florida and the nation that are using the Impact Suite to deliver on their programs’ promises.
