We’re so excited for the opportunity to begin working with Homeless & Housing Coalition of Kentucky’s AmeriCorps State and AmeriCorps VISTA programs!
The State*National program, Homes for All, is the only housing and homelessness AmeriCorps program in Kentucky and has actually been around since AmeriCorps’ pilot days in the mid-1990s. The program expands affordable housing opportunities for homeless and economically disadvantaged Kentuckians. AmeriCorps members serve at housing nonprofits around the state, providing housing placement, housing services, case management services, and building, renovating, and weatherizing affordable housing.
The VISTA program (VISTA-Homes for All) builds the capacity of non-profit partner agencies that provide housing services, construction, and rehabilitation throughout Kentucky. Partner agencies address the Commonwealth’s affordable housing crisis through housing development, repair, and the provision of housing and homeless services. Agencies also help households avoid homelessness by helping them access rent and utility assistance, food assistance, healthcare, education, and employment.
