We’re thrilled to welcome the Mesa United Way’s two AmeriCorps programs to the community of organizations using the AmeriCorps Impact Suite! A majority of AmeriCorps programs in Arizona are now using the Impact Suite.
Operation Second Wind
Operation Second Wind places citizens of Mesa, most aged 55 or over, as service delivery professionals at nonprofit human and health services agencies around the city. The AmeriCorps member then provides services at one of the agency’s service sites, where they generally partner with a ‘mentor-trainer’ in that office. Members deliver crucial services in the areas of economic hardship and homelessness, childhood literacy, veterans’ affairs, adult health and wellness, volunteer coordination, and more.
Mesa Youth Unite
Mesa Youth Unite AmeriCorps members tutor elementary-aged children in reading, help run children’s programming in agencies that work with low-income families, and plan family events to encourage parent-involvement.
