We’re grateful for the opportunity to begin working with another organization addressing the U.S. opioid epidemic: The Regional Youth Adult Social Action Partnership in Bridgeport, Connecticut.
RYASAP’s 30 AmeriCorps members are coordinating activities related to prescription drug and opioid abuse prevention and intervention in four Regional Action Councils. By summer 2018, the AmeriCorps members will have delivered 10 narcan trainings, led 300 community educational and/or awareness sessions, secured partnerships with 115 local pharmacies, among other activities. The AmeriCorps members will also leverage an additional 100 volunteers who will be engaged in local prevention councils work to combat substance use in Connecticut.
