We’re so excited to welcome Reading Success AmeriCorps at the United Way of Sumter, Clarendon, and Lee Counties to the AmeriCorps Impact Suite community!
Reading Success AmeriCorps provides literacy tutoring to nearly 450 kindergarten through third graders at eight locations in Lee and Sumter Counties. The program’s 19 AmeriCorps members provide small group and one-on-one tutoring to help children improve their reading skills.
The South Carolina Commission on National & Community Service already invests in the timesheets portion of the Impact Suite for all programs in the state. Reading Success is the first AmeriCorps program in the state to use the education and human development side of our practice to:
– Easily monitor and adjust services for each student;
– Ensure that each of its corps members are receiving targeted, personalized support each week; and to
– Make the collection of data a non-issue and put far more energy into wisely using information to constantly improve programming.
We’re looking forward to helping this program become a statewide model of how to deliver meaningful literacy support services to K-3 students.
