AmeriCorps Timesheets: 10 Years and Counting

Back in 2009, a number of the AmeriCorps program directors we serve asked us to create a simpler, smarter AmeriCorps-compliant timesheet application as compared to the two products that were then on the market.

Initially, we were pretty opposed to getting into the timesheet business.  After all, how do timesheets lead to stronger communities and true social impact?

But then, we started talking with more program directors about all of the time they were wasting with then-current solutions.  Those solutions — paper, Excel, other web-based systems — weren’t cutting it.  They were sucking time away from mission and social impact… and cutting into family time and evening/weekend downtime.

And that’s when we found our AmeriCorps timesheets passion:

> What if we could build a system that cut the amount of time that AmeriCorps members, site supervisors, and program staff spend on timesheets by at least half?

> What if we could build a system that reduced timesheets desk auditing time by at least half?

> What if we could build a system that’s truly friendly for all AmeriCorps members, site supervisors, and program staff?

That’s exactly what we did.  And since we launched the first version in 2011, we’ve continued to innovate to make AmeriCorps timesheets a non-issue for programs ranging from a handful of members to more than 4,000 members nationwide.

So, here’s to 10 years, and here’s to continuing to constantly innovating to make this side of AmeriCorps life even simpler so programs can direct as much energy as possible towards impact and excellence.
