Celebrating the Lifesaving Work of Vet Corps

AmeriCorps Washington

This Veterans Day, we’re thrilled to spotlight the incredible impact of Vet Corps, an AmeriCorps program coordinated by the Washington Department of Veterans Affairs and longtime user of the Impact Suite.  Vet Corps empowers veterans and military family members to help fellow veterans successfully transition to civilian life, especially on college campuses.

Through workshops, community events, and one-on-one support, Vet Corps members provide more than just guidance — they create a lifeline.   In a recent op-ed, Anthony Sandoval and Eric Burns, veterans and alumni of the program, recently shared how Vet Corps not only gave them purpose but saved their lives during their most challenging moments.

For over 15 years, Vet Corps has served as a beacon of hope for thousands of veterans, with 600 members supporting their peers nationwide. The program builds community, fosters belonging, and ensures no veteran feels alone in their journey.

While recent funding constraints have limited Vet Corps’ reach, its mission has never been more critical. We join Anthony and Eric in celebrating the program’s life-changing work and advocating for its expansion so veterans everywhere can experience its transformative power.
