So very excited to welcome Impact America to the community of national AmeriCorps programs switching to the Impact Suite platform this year!
Impact America activates recent college graduates to address the consequences of poverty through health, economic, and education-based initiatives. Two of their most successful initiatives involving national service memebrs are Focus First and Save First.
Focus First provides free vision screenings and eyeglasses to children in low-income communities. Corps members travel to childcare centers, schools, and other community settings to screen children for vision problems. If a child is found to have a vision problem, Impact America and its partners work with the child’s family to ensure that the child receive the eyeglasses and eyecare they need.
Save First provides free tax preparation services to low-income families. AmeriCorps members serving with this effort become IRS-certified tax preparers who help families claim all of the tax credits and deductions they are entitled to. They also provide financial education to families to help them better manage their money.
Focus First and Save First are just two of the initiatives that Impact America is working on to address the consequences of poverty. These programs are making a real difference in the lives of children and families, and they are helping to create lasting change in communities across Alabama, Tennessee, South Carolina, and Georgia.
The organization will be using the Impact Suite to help reallocate staff time spent on member enrollment and HR file management to activities that really support the organization’s mission. Additionally, the organization is giving its members access to our new mobile AmeriCorps timesheet app so that members can easily log their time and get back to their service efforts.
