Props to Our Clients Leading the Way on Corps Act Advocacy (And What You Can Do)!

Voices for National Service is highlighting letters that four of the organizations we’re fortunate to serve sent to members of Congress in support of the CORPS Act.

Voices is working to get emergency funding and the important flexibilities from the CORPS Act into the Senate’s COVID-19 relief package.  Ultimately, decisions about what is and is not included in the package will be made by Leadership and the relevant Committee Chairs.  For CNCS, these decision makers are Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY), Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY), HELP Committee Chairman Lamar Alexander (R-TN), LHHS Appropriations Subcommittee Chairman Roy Blunt (R-MO), and HELP and LHHS Appropriations Ranking Member Patty Murray (D-WA).  It is important that these senators hear from as many programs as possible.

If you’re a program leader, check out the letters below from four organizations we serve: Jumpstart, FoodCorps, Green City Force and Greak Oaks.  The letters are stellar and were highlighted by Voices as models to use.

FoodCorps Letter
Green City Force Letter
Great Oaks Letter
Jumpstart Letter

If you write a letter, keep in mind that it’s always preferable if board members will allow you to list their professional titles and affiliations.  Their positions in the community are a helpful demonstration of your strong public support and it helps to ensure the Senate office can identify the signers.
Here’s where to send the letters:
