Damien Ministries is a Washington, D.C.-based organization that seeks to improve health and wellness for the underserved through opportunities that provide a continuum of services.
The organization is now launching the We the People Community Health Worker Corps, a brand new Public Health AmeriCorps program. Through the program, 16 full-time AmeriCorps members will serve through the organization’s brand new Public Health AmeriCorps program as Certified Community Health Workers in the District of Columbia, Virginia, Maryland, and West Virginia. AmeriCorps members will provide basic health education and preventive care, including training on opioid overdose prevention.
The new program was born out of Damien Ministries’ longstanding work and the We The People Community Health Worker Coalition, a network of community-based organizations, health and envionmental education groups, academic institutonis, and public health sceintists.
Public Health AmeriCorps grantees of all shapes and sizes are using the Impact Suite to measure impact, tell the most powerful of stories, get more funding, and to stay in compliance with AmeriCorps timesheets and member file management regulations.
