From spirituals to nursery rhymes, folk songs to chants, people have gathered to sing short, repetitive, meaningful songs for millennia. Song connects us – helping us grieve, heal, protest, and celebrate.
Join us for “Song Seeds: Exploring Self Expression through Song” an interactive, safe, and joyful space guided by Anilee List (see bio below!), where you’ll be invited to sing as a group, and even write an original song inspired by themes and feelings that arise in breakouts.
- Do you need to consider yourself a “good singer” to join?
Absolutely not.
- Will anyone’s signing be judged or rated in any way whatsoever?
Absolutely not!
- Will you have an incredible experience facilitated by an all-star musician and performer?
Yes, yes, yes!
Just bring along your amazing self and a desire to connect with others working to make their communities and our world a better place.
This workshop is happening on Thursday, January 30th, 2025 at 6 PM Pacific (8 Central/9 Eastern).
Workshop Details:
Our facilitator, Anilee List, likes to call short songs with just a handful of words “seeds”; they can be taken anywhere you go. They might feel like a snack to chew on while going about your day, but if you plant them, especially in a group, they can grow tall, vast, and organically, moving through seasons of expression and turning into something unexpected and powerful.
In this workshop, you’ll:
- Learn a few of Anilee’s own song seeds.
- Collaboratively create a brand-new song seed with the group.
- Leave with a piece of music you can carry in your pocket, plant in your community, or share with others as it continues to grow and evolve.
