Prevent Child Abuse California (PCA CA), an affiliate of Prevent Child Abuse America, coordinates the good work of all the state’s child abuse prevention agencies and organizations, and takes the lead at the State Capitol, where it lobbies for child abuse prevention legislation. Prevent Child Abuse California also provides home visitation, parenting education and other child abuse prevention services directly to children and families throughout the state.
We’re thrilled to begin working with PCA CA’s RISE program! RISE, an AmeriCorps VISTA-funded effort, currently works across 13 counties in the state, providing low-income parents and their children with access to health services, economic supports, and education opportunities. RISE’s strategy is built upon the evidence-based Two Generation Approach of eliminating poverty, consisting of economic supports for all family members, social capital for parents to promote resilience, and developmental and educational opportunities for children and youth.
