We’re thrilled to announce that the Empire State Service Corps (ESSC) has joined the community of service organizations using the America Learns Impact Suite platform! ESSC is a groundbreaking initiative in New York, dedicated to inspiring students to make a difference across their communities through service and civic engagement.
This program spans 45 SUNY campuses across the state, representing a broad and diverse network of institutions committed to shaping the next generation of community leaders. Student excitement for the program is palpable: ESSC received nearly 2,000 applicants for just over 500 positions in the program’s inaugural cohort!
ESSC was awarded $2.5 million as an AmeriCorps program by the New York State Commission on National and Community Service. These federal funds will support the administration of specific service projects, and at the end of the AmeriCorps service term, eligible students will receive a Segal AmeriCorps Education Award, which may be used to repay qualified loans and to pay current educational expenses at eligible institutions of higher education and training programs.
As part of our partnership, ESSC will be using the Impact Suite to elevate their program by ensuring compliance, capturing comprehensive impact data, and helping SUNY tell powerful stories about their students’ efforts across the state. The Impact Suite will be pivotal in tracking ESSC’s influence, enabling leadership to share meaningful narratives that resonate with stakeholders and inspire others.
Just as we’ve done with a similar program in California, we’re so excited to make sure that as much energy as possible — from both students and staff — can be directed towards mission and impact, not compliance and admin work. Let’s get to work!
