In Sacramento County, California, 13% of the total adult population lack even the most basic literacy skills.
Adult learners who work with Sacramento Public Library literacy tutors achieve goals that include voting for the first time, reading aloud to their children, and finding employment.
The library provides the resources to support adult learners with:
– One-on-one instruction from trained literacy volunteers;
– Books and instructional materials at no cost; and
– A supportive environment working with tutors who care.
The library’s adult literacy program is the latest CLLS-funded program in the state to adopt the Student Success Impact Suite as its program data, management system, and ongoing tutor support system. Welcome!
