Welcome to the San Francisco Public Library!

In San Francisco, it is estimated that 80,000 adults–one in every five–have some difficulty with basic reading and writing. Since 1983, Project Read has provided free one-on-one tutoring, workshops, and ongoing instructional support to English-speaking adults who seek to improve their basic literacy skills. Project Read recruits learners and volunteer tutors while also raising awareness of literacy issues.

Project Read is the latest California Library Literacy Services-funded program to invest in the Student Success Impact Suite to stay compliant with grant requirements while scaling the program’s impact.

Welcome!
