Nine State Service Commissions Adopt The Grant Gateway in Just Two Weeks
When eGrants was suddenly pulled for formula applications several weeks ago, state service commissions needed more than a generic grants platform. They needed something built for the realities of AmeriCorps Formula competitions. They needed a system that understood their workflow, reduced preventable errors, and made life easier for applicants, reviewers, and commission staff.
That’s why we built The Grant Gateway.
In just two weeks, nine state service commissions signed up: Kentucky, Mississippi, North Carolina, Maryland, Puerto Rico, Michigan, West Virginia, Delaware, and Vermont.
Built for the way commissions actually work
The Grant Gateway is not general-purpose grants software dressed up for AmeriCorps. We designed it specifically for state service commissions managing AmeriCorps grant applications and review.
Unlike traditional grant application platforms, The Grant Gateway supports the workflow commissions actually need: application intake, structured peer review, clarification exchanges, and final award decisions. That means less configuration, faster setup, and a system that fits your process right out of the box.
Commissions are also seeing the platform’s flexibility. Many first came to The Grant Gateway because they urgently needed a better way to handle Formula competitions. Others adopted it because they can also use it for Volunteer Generation Fund competitions, Governor’s Service Awards, mini-grants, and other commission-managed processes. They are not just solving one problem. They are putting stronger grantmaking infrastructure in place.
Compliant before it’s submitted
Our belief is simple:
Compliant before it’s submitted. That’s how AmeriCorps should work.
The Grant Gateway enforces AmeriCorps compliance rules before applicants submit. That helps reduce returns, cut unnecessary back-and-forth, and save time across every competition type a commission runs.
Commissions can also turn on first-of-their-kind pre-submission screening tools. These tools help applicants catch inconsistencies across sections and strengthen writing quality before they hit submit.
One system. Less friction.
The platform includes a flexible form builder for application and budget templates. It also includes structured reviewer scoring with customizable rubrics, conflict-of-interest management, real-time reviewer progress tracking, clarification requests and resubmissions, aggregated score ranking, exportable reports, and a branded applicant portal. Every action is timestamped and immutable for audit trail compliance.
Multiple staff members from the same organization can collaborate on a single application. Teams can work across sections, save drafts, and preview the full submission before the authorized signer submits.
That all-in-one design is already resonating with commissions.
One leader from the Mississippi Commission for Volunteer Service recently shared that the system’s layout and functionality are “absolutely GOLD.” She said the platform is intuitive and easy to navigate, even for people who are not especially tech-savvy. She also highlighted the value of having submission, review, scoring, and award work housed in one system. She called the export function the fastest her team has ever encountered. She added that the new AI feature will significantly reduce review time by helping reviewers compare budget amounts and improve clarity in program writing.

Fast to launch
Commissions can go live in as little as 90 minutes. The Grant Gateway is cloud-hosted SaaS, so there is no software to install, no servers to configure, and no lengthy implementation process. We pair tried-and-true application templates with live onboarding support so commissions can configure their first competition and set up their reviewer pool quickly.
We also build custom training materials for each commission. That means commission staff do not have to create documentation or videos for applicants, reviewers, or colleagues on their own.
A platform you can justify and defend
The Grant Gateway is a niche, purpose-built solution for state service commissions managing AmeriCorps Formula grant applications. For procurement offices, that matters. A sole-source justification template is available upon request. We accept purchase orders, ACH, wire transfers, and credit cards, and we are registered on SAM.gov with an active UEI.
Built by America Learns
For more than two decades, we’ve partnered with the AmeriCorps community to build technology that strengthens national service. The Grant Gateway is our newest purpose-built platform, designed around how commissions actually work.
That history shows up in the product. The workflow is practical. The reviewer tools make sense. The compliance features are built in from the start, not bolted on later.
Why nine commissions in two weeks matters
Nine commissions signing on in two weeks is not just an exciting milestone. It is a sign that the field wants infrastructure built for its actual needs.
Commissions want a system they can launch quickly. They want fewer workarounds. They want stronger applications before review begins. They want one platform that supports submission, review, clarification, and award decisions without forcing staff to jump between tools.
That’s what The Grant Gateway was built to do.
And we’re just getting started.
